Connection magnets are used to control where lines connect to shapes.
Lines that are connected to shapes that have no magnets point towards the center of the shape. |
With magnets, the connection gravitates towards the nearest magnet as the shape is moved, resized, or rotated. |
A line that is connected directly to a magnet will stay connected to that point on the shape no matter how the shape is modified. |
Placing a magnet inside the border of a shape can be an effective way to spread out multiple connections while keeping them in the same general area. |
Magnets are associated with specific graphics in your document, not with types of shapes. If the shape of a graphic is changed, its magnets remain the same. To change the magnets on a graphic, select a graphic that has the magnet configuration that you want and choose Copy Magnets from the Format->Connection Magnets menu. Pasting magnets on a shape replaces that shape's magnets. You can also control the placement of magnets on a shape using the Magnets pane in the Info window.
